enlighten me

If someone hits a home run, then why do they have to run the bases?

because if they don't "run" then they hit a Home but not a home run... if they skip to the bases do they call it a Home Skip?

They have to run the bases because it's possible that they might not make it to home before the ball is retrieved. If it's waaaay out of the park, then I'm not sure why... Maybe to make it look like baseball is a sport. I'll never buy it... you can't sit around with potbellies and chew tobacco and say you're an athlete... Baseball is a game, that's it. (Football too... but I'll shut up now!)

yeah, that's what I'm talking about. If it's out of the park, what's the point? Next time I hit a home run, out of the park, I'm not running. Forget it. Too lazy to run. ;)

You know in my last softball league running the bases after a home run wasn't allowed and we could only hit one an inning. Too much chance for "unsportmanlike" behavior running around he bases.

I think it's just so they can have their "moment". I like bobo's softball league's rule!
